Allie

I've been taking a break from photography. Just refocusing after a bunch of studio shooting. Anyways, I drive past this field everyday leaving my house and coming home. Allie agreed to come over from North Dallas to shoot with me and we had a great shoot.

Thanks to Allie for shooting with me.

Charlie

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot with Charlie before she moved to Seattle.

We have this old chair, kind of looks like a baseball mitt. I liked the contrast with the dress and her posture.

Thanks to Charlie for shooting with me.

Nash Composite

This is something different than I usually do. This is a composite image. I took a photo with my shoot with Nash and placed her on a background I took later on. There's a lot more to it than that, but it all worked out to a cool image.

Me

Usually I like to be behind the camera, but a few people have pointed out that there aren't any photos of me on my website. My friend Kelly came by the studio and helped me take these photos. I think I'll stay behind the camera but these turned out well

I usually don't have lights in  my pictures much less bare strobes, but the picture felt like it needed something different. The smaller camera with the silver on it is my dad's old Canon AT-1. As a kid I was always interested and amazed by this camera.
This Mamiya is extremely heavy. It's a 6x7 medium format film camera. It's a lot of fun to shoot, but it takes practice to get right. I usually only shoot black and white in it.

Another shot with some softboxes. This setup is how I shoot a lot of my pictures. I like how the lights distinguished the subject from the background.
I have to do one funny picture.
Thanks to Kelly for taking some cool pictures.

Nashua

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot with Nashua. She's about to graduate from UTA with a degree in psychology.

I bought these white beats a month ago and thought they fit this kind of shoot.

 another great headshot.
Thanks to Nash for shooting with me.

Trailer Park Chic

I wrote last time that I'm trying to expand my portrait portfolio. I came up with this idea a while back. There's a trailer park across the street from my studio. I really wanted to shoot something over there. So asked Rachel to come out and bring her curlers. I think it turned out pretty well.

Thanks to Rachel for running with my crazy idea.

Ice Cream

Looking through my portfolio and thinking about the type of images I want to shoot, I've realized I'm not shooting the images I want to make. Some of that's been because of moving into a studio and fully understanding the lights and how everything works. But I'm making a conscious effort to shoot what I want my style to be. I want my pictures to be humorous (most of the time) and tell a story.

I've had this idea about ice cream in my head for a few weeks. Sammie volunteered to come in and bring her boyfriend Luke. This picture is almost exactly what was in my head, so I'm pleased with it. I like how her hair shows movement along with his facial expression.
And yes, we did eat the ice cream later.

Thanks to Sam and Luke for helping me create this image.
