Ashley

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot with Ashley. We got some great photos.

I liked this one the best.

The shot below uses split lighting but I had Ashley turn and face into one of the lights. It created this very cool effect of the shadow going down her side.

Sometimes the lights don't all fire and it reminds me how much I like "one-light" shots like this one. After this shot we just stuck with the one light approach.
Thanks to Ashley for shooting with me.

Miss Myi

Today I shot with Myi. She's a singer from Houston. Look for her EP to come out in a month or so.

I really like the pink background here.
Myi showed me this great photo of Beyonce, we did a little tribute here.
Flamingo?
You wouldn't realize how hard it is to get the fan to blow just right for her hair. Fun though.
Thanks to Myi for shooting with me today. Really fun and the loudest it's been in my studio.

Jock...again

Today I did something I never do. I recreated a photograph I shot 3 years ago. I'm in the process of printing a portfolio and I really wanted this shot in it, but I needed it horizontal.

Today
Jock's a very expressive talker. This was an outtake during the light test.

Shane

Yesterday I also got to shoot with Shane. Shane's a local actor and model. He's been in over 50 independent films. After spending a couple of hours with him I can tell why. Shane can go straight to a face and hold it. Plus, he's a cool guy.

This was my favorite shot of the afternoon.

I like these kind of head shots for guys where they're kind of leaning. Seems more natural than sitting straight up.
Thanks,
Brian

Rondell

Yesterday I had the pleasure to shoot with Rondell. He and I have been trying to work together for a couple of weeks so it was cool to finally shoot.

Rondell's a local musician from the DFW area.

I found this light setup kind of by accident and I really like how it treats the seamless paper behind him. It doesn't hurt that he's got awesome tattoos.
I like this head shot. Very clean.

This photo is using my ring flash. I had to ask him if all of those tattoos hurt. He laughed and said yes.
Thanks to Rondell for an awesome shoot.

Sam

Last night I had a great time shooting with Sam. She's from California but is in town helping her parents with their family business.

She's really funny. Every time she laughed real hard she put her hand in front of her face like this.

This is with my ring flash. Really does a great job on the eyes and giving the background texture.

I think this was the best shot of the night.
This is the hard light setup I've been using more of. It really works here.

Thanks to Sam for a great shoot and for the donuts.

Tori

Today I got to shoot with Tori at the studio. Tori was great.

This is a combination hard light and ringflash.

I like the way the light colored her eyes on this one.

I like these jeans.

I bumped up the green on a few of these and it really worked. Lately I've been using my ringflash again and it's really working.

Thanks to Tori for shooting with me.

Brandon & Christine

Here's how my cousin Brandon asked Christine to marry him. It was a fun night. They're both a lot of fun.

I made this film using Apple's new Final Cut Pro. When it came out there were a bunch of bad reviews so I waited to get it. I have to say it's awesome. Using new software I made a video in 4 hours that used to take a couple of days. It's always been the post production that made video rough for me, but now I'm officially excited about video again.

Chance

Last night I got to shoot with Chance. He's a film student at UNT and a cool guy.

He almost looks employable in this photo.
Chance really wanted to do a few hard light shots. I always enjoy doing these.
The light on the sides of his face are awesome.
The one below is a split light photo.

Thanks to Chance for shooting and hanging out.

Thanks,
Brian

Marcus

Tonight I was able to shoot with two different guys both were very cool. Here's the first, Marcus.
He brought this cool yellow shirt so I put up some yellow paper and used my ring flash.
We also shot some great head shots. I think this one is perfect example of what I think a head shot should be. It's clean and there's a lot of character to it.
This one's tough.

This hat was in the wardrobe closet and really worked well with what we were shooting. Marcus may need to get one of these hats.

I don't often shoot this close, but I think it works here. Good intensity to his eyes.
Thanks to Marcus for a great shoot.

If anyone's wanting a head shot email me.

thanks,
Brian
