Lisa & Dylan Engagement Photos

This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Lisa and Dylan's engagement photos. We shot in the Stockyards. These two made it easy to take great photos. The only problem I had was deciding which photos were the best. They don't take a bad picture. To see more from this set click the link above.

The one below reminds me of a movie. Lisa and Dylan were attracting a crowd as we shot this one. No joke, I turned around and there were 6+ people watching us.

I really like the way the sun was setting in the photograph below.
Thanks for choosing me to be your photographer, I had a great time shooting these. I'm looking forward to your wedding.

New York Video

Recently I spent a few days in New York. Besides taking a few photos with my Canon 5DMKII, I also had the opportunity to take some video. ¥ou can view this video below. It plays best if you start the video then pause it until it fully loads.

I edited the video using Final Cut Express and did color correction using Magic Bullet Looks.

B&W vs. Color

I've always liked b&w (black and white) photography. It has a timeless and classic look. With digital cameras it's easy to convert a photo and adjust the color to increase contrast and drama. The challenging part is deciding which photos look best in b&w and which look best in color. Here are a few comparisons.

This photo I just took and posted the b&w in the last posting. This one was easy for me to decide on . It reminds me of photos taken in the 1930's. The clouds and buildings really pop in b&w.

This photo was taken in Yellowstone early this year. I enjoy both versions. Once again the clouds look great in b&w.

I really like portraits in b&w, but this picture is lit so well I like it in color.

NYC

I spent the past few days in New York City. I've been there before, but this time I took my new 5DMKII and 24-70. Click the title above to view the full set.

This shot is from the top of 30 Rock.

You probably know where this is. It's unreal how busy Times Square can be.

The best part of the whole trip was sitting in the front row for a taping of the Colbert Report. He's the funniest guy on TV and just as funny in person.

Dallas Arboretum

I live in Fort Worth, but I hardly ever go to Dallas. Even though it's less than 30 minutes away. My wife and I joke that we know how to find our way better in Kauai, than we do in Dallas. Which is too bad, because despite my loyalty to FTW, Dallas has some cool stuff to offer. This past Saturday, my wife, my parents and I went to the Dallas Arboretum. If you haven't been there you should definitely go. This time a year the tulips are blooming.

Books

One of my favorite things to do with my photographs is to build a book that tells a story. The company I use has come up with a cool widget to share these books. Check it out below. If it doesn't work on Facebook, go to my blog to view.
